Sunroof trouble T25 / carat wheels T25

Post by lucifer666 »

Hi guys
I have an original factory fitted wind back sunroof in my bus. its about 900 wide and 1200 long. the mechanism is broken and vw England tells me the compooter sez no...no parts available. Any suggestions as to where i might get a second hand mechanism?? any scrappers out there?? or any other idea's apart from seal it up??
Also i have original VW carat wheels but two of the centre caps are missing, anyone out there got any spares ideas suggestions???
Iv'e tried Just Kampers for both ...no luck. VW scrappers??
I have had the bus for 9 years, my mate bought it band new from VW cooks in Peterborough....i need to get the old girl sorted.
Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Andy

Where are you based? These guys http://www.sussexwindscreens.com/contact.htm might be able to help. I know they hold stocks of obsolete aftermarket sunroofs.

Lucifers sunroof is the rare full length steel sunroof so i can't see a glass sunroof place having parts.....it would be good if they had though.
There is a way of repairing the mechanism with parts from a different vehicle but i can't remember at the moment....soz.

Thanks Steve and Blunderbuss.....it would appear that sussex windscreens havent got the mechanism but Matt there was very helpful and has given me some pointers on how to possibly repair the roof.
Steve you area a star!
Following on from the post is anyone out there in the general VW world breaking a golf with a manual wind back sunroof??

Centre caps, I lost two of mine and use paint spray can tops, fit perfect (but you fit em from the inside) and, if you buy silver paint come colour matched......just for future reference as some one has offered you a pair so save em whenever you get some silver paint ...... :D

Buy some wheel silver cans, if you still have the steels spray them then flog them or keep in case you ever re-fit them .... :D
