Hi, I have the opportunity of getting my hands on a 4 speed gearbox from an Aircooled T25 (i don't know what size engine or gearbox code) for a AAZ conversion, my current engine is 1600 N/A diesel with a ABF box final drive 5.83.
am i right in thinking that any Aircooled t25 box will have a beter final drive ratio than the one i currently "enjoy"
any advice greatfully recieved.
Gearbox question am i right?

No,
There are 2 different Aircooled gearboxes which came in the Type 25.
One is for the 2.0 Litre and the other is for the 1600 CT. Avoid the 1600 CT at all costs!!
The code for the 2-litre is DK from memory.
I think there is a link on one of the posts at the top from Harlequin Syncro for all the gearbox codes and ratios so you can check out whats good and whats not. There is also a link to a gearbox calculator which I have found very useful.
