pretty sure not.... better wipe he butter off yer fingers next time...
But... I may have a "bent" new ball joint that I wont be using so will see if I can get the gaiter off... trouble is it wont be for at least 2 weeks as I am int he Uk and the ball joint is in France...
It's a great offer, but i have to have it ready for MOT. It was a long shot but cos they come off so easy i thought there was still a small glimmer of hope of a replacement.
Thanks again for the offer would have been perfect!
To my knowledge replacementy gaiters for v-dubs don't exist although you could try a motor factors and see what they have in their odds and ends box. Unfortunately I think you'll end up buying a new joint here. I've done it myself so don't feel bad. Just keep the one you've wrecked in case you do come across a gaiter from somewhere. Use it as a spare.

Superglue works very well on rubber, try removing any grease from the split with meths and then glue. I've repaired cv gaiters in the past and they've held up ok.
sounds good, a little worried the glue might go brittle after while though?? Be glad when it's done now, Its been a fiddley old job, not more so than trying to get a new one pressed back in, have been around to local garages and they've all said to go to the VW dealer, can't get there till next weekend. Other thought was to buy a cheap one from motor factors and swap over gaiters? They'd be the same size...... wouldn't they??? Also just found out i can't get the spacer sleeve for the the original ARB link! !

Not yet but it will be soon when the new regs come in.
Not a good idea to leave it though, once water and grit get in the ball joint fails pretty quicky and the lower ones not easy to do.
No you only have to split the joint from the steering knucle to replace the boot. To replace the lower joint you have to remove the arm and press the ball joint out and in.
