Hi all,
Whilst at Apps Court, can some good kindly folk help me in testing my vans cooling system?
Not sure if anything wrong with it, but just would like someone in the know to take a look and tell me if its doing what its meant to and if not, what I need to replace...
Not sure if this should be in tech or general chat, so feel free to move if nec.
Sarah

Re: Cooling system
Sarah,
sent you a pm.
if the needle isn't going manic, it isn't boiling up like a kettle, and there are no flashing red lights, i would guess its doing what it should.
in all honesty, you can do some of it yourself....open the engine bay, let it idle, and keep an eye on the temp guage. You should feel the pipes in the engine bay get warm first....then when the thermostat opens, the pipe to the rad will get warm. Whip the grill off, and feel the rad get warmer. In this heat, shouldn't take too long. Just sitting, and the fan should cut in an out. needle staying around the halfway mark, but a bit to the right ok too.

Re: Cooling system
Hi Emma,
Yeah, got your pm
Might have a go at testing this- it seems fairly straight forward
I'm pretty sure my fan don't come on - but temp gauge sits where you suggested, so maybe I'm just worrying unneccesarily.
I'll try and check it out tomorrow or maybe the weekend.
Oh, and I'll post what I'll find out

Re: Cooling system
Biggest issue is the radiator. If it gets hot the cooling system is pretty much working. If it stays cold you have a blockage in the system.
