Fridge Service

Post by boytomski »

Hello,

I have an '84 Kameo camper. It still has it's original 2 way Electrolux fridge fitted, but it's seems to be getting a bit 'weak'.

There is almost no cooling provided in 12V mode, even on a 3 hour journey. The gas lights as it should, but only manages to cool the fridge a few degrees. On a hot day, the cooling effect is even less.

I've read on this forum that the fridge can be 'serviced'. Does anyone know what the service entails & how to do it? Also, has anyone got any tips on what I can do to bring my fridge back to it's former glory?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Tom.

If you do a search of the wiki there should be info on fridges in there. Fridge problems have been discussed a million times on the forum so a search should reveal lots of info. The Electrolux/Dometic fridges can't really be serviced as there are no moving parts etc. Check the gas jet is not partially blocked, check the flue is clear & remove the fridge & turn it upside down, then leave it overnight & then refit it & try again. The van must be level when using the fridge on gas ie.max + or - 3 degrees.
