hi there.
i have been treating a rust area near a wheel arch, i have taken the filler off and used a flange disc, worn it down considerably, trying to smooth down these raised pits.
i am down to bare metal on the peaks of the pits, which is desirable before vactan or jeloniting, but i would like to get a smooth finish.
can any seasoned jeloniters tell me if jelonite helps to smooth down bare metal?

It does with vactan so I presume so with the other. Case of layering on, sanding, layering etc until you get it smooth - bit like high-build primer.

cheers for that bro, another thing i haven't tried a sanding disc on the grinder, but i thinking a belt sander would flatten a pitted section the quickest.
if i have gone to bare metal on the raised pits is that enough or should i get the whole section flat and back to bare metal before vactanning for the last time and painting? i will have to get a flat surface anyhow, i can see how the previous person had built a nice wedge of filler over this part to disguise the raised pits, yuk!
it's good to get it all off and sort this out properly. i am not certain of the abilities of vactan so i would like to get back to bare metal.
do you think that a rotary sander would flatten down quicker? i am thinking of getting one of these so i can buff well with the old cutting paste once it's time to polish the paintwork.
