How do you remove the brown fascia from the hob? I've taken
out all the screws yet the damn thing won't part from the s/s
top? Any idea anyone?

It's probably stuck with year of grease and grime. It slides down, so when the four screws are out, gently pull the bottom part away a small amount, put some wood (or something else to protect the top part) and give it a bash.
