Both fuel and temp gauge have got at the same time, so I,m jumping to the conclusion that its not the tank sender.
Is this a common fault or any likely cause. The earth from the dash console is ok as everything else is working.
Help needed the fuel tank seal on the filler pipe is also bust so I cant even keep topping the tank upto full, as i create a flood of petrol on the garage forecourt.

The voltage stabilizer is common to both instruments and could therefore be the cause.
Have a look at this thread.... scroll down and there is a photo of the back of the instruments, the voltage stabilizer is arrowed 12V in 10V out.

Re: fuel gauge + temp gauge fault
Thanks for that mike.
So to either eliminate this or to confirm it, would it be safe to say that if I bypass the voltage stabaliser momenteraly, i should get a reading on the temp and fuel gauge???

Re: fuel gauge + temp gauge fault
If you by pass the regulator the guages will function but I would remove it as it simply unscrews and can be pulled from the socket before shorting it out. Alternatively, lift the cowling off and switch the ignition on then measure the voltage across terminals A - B of the temp gauge (as shown in the picture in the link thread), if its 0 or very low then you have to remove the binnacle. Never tried shorting one with it in situ as the binnacle can be removed in a few minutes and you may find that the problem is nothing more than tarnished connections at the Voltage regulator.
