Syncro front ARB drop links in production

Post by Simon Baxter »

Machine shop just rang to say that they are now on with making the syncro front anti roll bar drop links for me.
I have 3 different part numbers on order, the early ambidexterous ones and the later handed ones.
I've not ordered a "pooh" load, just enough to satisfy demand hopefully.
They will be mild steel and powdercoated black.
Price should be around the £50 mark including VAT.
Hopefully here in 2-3 weeks and avilable to buy from the webshop.

Good that you're doing this sort of stuff. Can I suggest you look at doing the penny washers as well as they're now NLA from VW ?

Good stuff Simon. and a very reasonable price too.
If we're talking about the washers with number 251 411 043. I tried only 3 weeks ago to get some and had been told they were now obsolete. The guy at VW though was very helpfull and did a dealer search. I was after 4, but he could only find 2 for me in Oxford.

It would be good news if you've managed to source some direct from VW. Does this mean they are now remanufacturing obsolete parts? We can live in hope.......

different part we discovered

2wd ones - that Simon has are 171 512 337

syncro specific ones are 251 411 043 and are thicker - I think, certainly thicker than the ones GSF sell and with better formed lip - I'll make enquiries elsewhere just in case some can be had, I know from experience that the thinner ones from GSF deform very readily which can upset the angles and increase wear rate of the metal bush insert

Beggars can't be choosers!

Golf ones, or nowt!
As it happens, the ones GSF sell are Genuine VW, it's not a part thats available on the aftermarket.

Had word from Germany today the syncro ones are available in large quantities if required, about 4 euros each inc vat and del, but no discounts available I think.

Shall we get some ?

Possibly something we could do thro the syncronauts - I haven't any spare cash to put them on the shelf myself at the mo, waiting for some payments....

Aidan - I can take ownership of ordering up these from Germany.
I'll pm you to get some info. I assume it's Classic?

Ok - so far I've got:
Aidan x?
sonic23 8
tooManyToys 4
syncropatrick 4
syncroAndy 4
KarlT 4. (Karl - they're the little washers that sit either side of the bushes on your ARB drop link)

Any other takers?

Rich
