Hi
I have provisionally wired up my Smartcom Relay to my LB last night. My LB without the engine runing had a voltage of 12.80 and my SB 12.75. When I start the engine they both go up to around 13.90 so I assume that this is charging both batteries. However, I dont know whether it is working in terms of switching off as I cant hear a click over the engine noise. And when I turn the engine off there doesnt appear to be a click. It is supposed to turn off at 13.2V. Is there a way I can check that the interoir electrics are not being traken from the SB?
Cheers

Re: Checking my Smartcom is working
The easiest way is to remove the connection to the leisure battery from the relay and connect a test lamp in it's place and monitor the voltage when it switches off. But remember it will take some time for the surface charge in the battery to decay so the relay can stay switched on for some time after the engine is switched off.

Re: Checking my Smartcom is working
I have mounted an led on the dash which is linked into the circuit between the relay and the leisure battery so I can see if / when the leisure battery is being charged...

Re: Checking my Smartcom is working
Well it is working and thanks to everyone who helped.
However, here is a weird thing. If I start her up and rev it a bit so the relay kicks in and then turn her off about 2 seconds later I can hear the relay clicking off. Great it works. But if I go on a long journey with the fridge on battery so my beers are cold when I get there and stop the engine. It really struggles to turn over the starter. I assume that this is due to residule voltage across both batteries and becuase of this the relay takes a little longer to turn off. I.e the fridge is taking power from the SB until the relay switches. Which seems to be true as after about 30 secs it will then turn over nicley.
Not really what you want if you stall it at a juction and have to jump in to the back to turn off the fridge!
Any ideas. Its strange that if the relay hasnt switched off the fridge would be taking its power from both LB and SB. Both are brand new 110A & 65A. You would have thought that there would be enough power to turn her over and run the fridge ofr a few seconds
Cheers for any ideas
