TD conversion

Post by yellowbus »

Got a 1985 panel van Wanna convert from a 1.6 flat diesel to the 1.9 Td out of a 92-93 golf.

will be hopefully providing the whole golf and got quoted 1000 to do it.

Can anybody suggest a cheaper place?

i'm in chester so around the north west would be handy

Every job is different.
You can't quote properly till you have seen everything.
You may need to buy a complete exhaust, a new clutch etc etc.
Labour is going to be about 15 hours, at £30 per hour thats £450
is that a better quote?
But then you have all the parts to buy.
Then you have oil, filter, cambelt and tensioner, oil return lines, sump gasket, inlet and exhaust gaskets, spigot shaft bearings, coolant, thermostat, fan switch, JX manifold and sump, JX airbox etc...
It all adds up.

You will find it cheaper than me, if feel sure, thing is that Im a garage, if anything goes wrong you have come back.
I am also experienced in putting them in and can get on an do the job properly so it hopefully goes away and stays away, pending on the condition of the engine you supply.

Oh, if you want cheap then this propbably isn't the conversion for you, best sticking to replacing what you already have, it depends on what you call cheap.
