Bluestar central locking

Post by rednip120372 »

My central locking broke on my 1990 Bluestar but I have got 2 replacement motors from a main dealer. The motors appear to be the same as the originals except for the connectors. According to the main dealer there was a connector adaptor made but this has now been discontinued.

I think I will be able to make an adaptor myself using a small spade connector but I don't know which wires should connect to which contact??!! Basically there's no coloured wires visible on the new motors.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the new & the old motors please???

The green motors are the new ones...

I think I already posted wiring for the old motors.
If the new motors are electricaly the same as the old ones, you have a +ve feed, a -ve ground, and 2 contacts one will lock the door, one will unlock.
get a multimeter on ohms. test between all contacts and write down the results.
you should get a zero ohms reading between the +ve and one of the switching contatcts.
you should get a few ohms between the -ve and one of the switching contacts. ( Resistance of the motor!)

If you can identify the -ve (More than likely it is one of the outside contacts) you can try a 12v battery to see if you can energise the motor. -Ve on -ve contact and +ve on one of the other contacts.

I'm sorry for sounding really thick....So there's 4 wires...BROWN, WHITE, YELLOW, RED on the van...and they connect to my old motors...Do you know what those colours are...eg EARTH or LIVE???!!!! AND...How do I determine which colours go to which prongs on the new motors ....I'm a bit unsure about your reply with the +ve & -ve thingy!!! I'm a plumber by trade!!!!

red is live feed from fuse board, brown is earth and yellow and white are the output signal wires that say locked and open, I figured out the wiring for these and put it on a new motor, but I sold that a few months ago to someone who then fitted it to his van, having the colour codes on it made it easy, unfotunately I didn't keep a copy of the wiring, but as stated above a bit of continuity testing will do it and by checking with the van to see wether yellow is locked or open (open sliding door, unscrew contact plungers on door and pull out so you can see which wire is which and then pop 12v across the brown neg and pos on the other two one at a time will make the sliding door lock and unlock so you can see which does which
only the front doors have the red feed wire the tailgate and slider are more passive and do what they are told by the others, obviously with the slider open the motor on it is isolated from the rest of the circuit so you can test it independently

when you figure it out add it to the wiki :ok

Hi

Think i have now sorted it!!! I wired the new motors like this going from top to bottom on the new central locking motor connector i conected the van wires

WHITE TOP CONNECTOR
YELLOW SECOND
RED THIRD
BROWN BOTTOM

I conected wire to the new motor connector using small spade connectors covered in heat shrink.

Hope this helps someone else!!!
