Hi guys, I've just recently picked up an "81 2 litre Aircooled Devon Moonraker hightop, basicially the camper has been stripped down to a rolling shell and the engine removed and stripped for inspection by the previous owner who had to sell as he had lost his storage. I had been looking for a project T25 camper for the last year and have been trying to learn as much as possible about them to make sure I knew what I was looking for when going to look at any potential projects. It is essentially solid as someone has had it properly wax protected although that's not to say it's perfect it does need new cab steps, a repair to the sliding door and a few other repairs not too mention a lot of minor surface rust developing, probably due to having been sat on the north east coast for nearly three years, but nothing too scary. Over the next few months I plan to get the van back on the road as I don't have storage of my own and using a friends for a short while. Basically I'm starting from scratch and want to ask you guys what modifications or improvements do you recommend as I don't want to build it back together then discover I could have made an improvement and wasted my time or money as I am on a tight budget (two year old and a new baby due in two weeks).
I am a mechanic to trade and will obviously be looking to replace and upgrade brake and fuel systems, the suspension has been lowered by the previous owner but that's about all he has actually done ( personally I think he jumped the gunn, and should have looked at the essentialls first ), so that's what I would like your help with and would hugely appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer.
Cheers Craig

Blimey... You just opened up a can of worms!
Welcome to the club by the way.
Right, I'll start the list by putting:-
1. Check the petrol tank (top of) as this often rusts and begins to leak.
Anyone for No.2...
