Rear diff lock light not coming on ...

Hi there,

I've just noticed that my rear diff lock light is not coming on. The front is fine.
I'm living in rural portugal and have no garage skills myself.

Q1 What are the possible faults?
Q2 Could it be fixed by a local car mechanic?
Q3 If this problem is not addressed, can i still use my van as normal without further damage?

A1 Either the diff lock is not engaging or the switch / bulb is faulty. You would know if the lock is not engaging by driving it
A2 Yes if he knows Syncros but its fairly simple
A3 Yes but make sure the diff lock knob on the dash is fully off
