The interior of my 82 westfalia has two striplights - both of which owrk of the main battery, but I really want the light to come from the leisure battery, for obvious reasons! Would it be easier to rewire the existing lights, or to add a new set of lights run off the leisre?
What do you think?

You already have the second/leisure battery fitted via split-charging relay?
When I wired up my bay window lights it was very straight forward, I used a fusebox with a built-in negative bus for a few reasons, if you use twin cable it is very simple to wire up and if you do have any earthing issues then it rather than makes fault finding so much easier not that you should have any issues! I bought mine from a marine chandlery but you could use a normal fusebox and earth each item.
Just make sure you use an appropriate grade of wire.

Re: 12 volt lighting
I have just done this mod Helga.
Just run a cable from the + of the leisure battery with an in line fuse to the fuse box area, the connection for the light and aux is just a spade connector connected to the fuse box. Just remove spade connector's from the fusebox, get a piggy back connector and wire up the aux/cig lighter and stereo while your at it.
The wire for the lights goes over the cab door and runs down the windscreen pillar so is easy to locate, if you look up under the fusebox you will see it appearing from the left windscreen pillar.
I will draw you a diagram whilst I'm not working at work tomorrow night.

Re: 12 volt lighting
Fantastic! That is brilliant - there are already cigar lighter sockets and lights all over the show, being able to so simply wire them to the leisure would be brilliant.
So eesentially, you just run a + cable to the fusebox under the steering wheel, perhaps fit a mini fusebox, and attatch all the auxs, lights and stereo to that new plus cable? How brutally simple.
Thanks AGAIN Lhd!
