Coolant hose...

Post by juniordawson »

Hello all,
please excuse me if this is a tired question (I found it mention a bit in your archives), but I'm gonna give it a shot...
I need to track down a short hose for the coolant system in my T25 (petrol, automatic, 1989, RHD)... I've put up a brief description and some pictures here http://stevendawson.co.uk/bushelp/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If anyone can recommend the nirvana of coolant hoses, I would be eternally grateful... and we might be able to go on holiday...
Thanks for your time.
Steven
ps (I've done GSF, Syncrospares, Brickyard and VW Heritage... excuse the scattergun approach!)

Personally, if all else fails with your chosen parts suppliers I would take a trip to a local car/ van dealership and ask if they have a box of surplus hoses you could have a root in and simply match up the hose you need with something similar they might have......and don't forget to take your old one with you.

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,,

PS, I did the very same when I was in need of all the small bore hoses that fitted inside the engine conpartment........
One day you will find me,,

With a Surf and Paisley wrap on both sides....

Steven,

try a local breakers as well!! As Fritz says, a hose of the correct diameter is more critical than the correct shape. Hoses can be cut down.....i should know...the inside of my camper is a mix of t pieces, hoses and plumbers fittings where we have mated a late 2.1 to an early 1.9 cooling system. It also has LPG connections, so doesn't look like anything VW would recognise....but it works (somehow!!) :D

Or, if you want new, measure your internal diameter and visit a rubber hose shop on line. Local motor factors may also be able to help!

If its different diameters each end, you can get rubber reducers.

With these busses, its often a case of "what else can we do to get around it"!

I have a load of hoses in the garage, and an engine like yours....I will have a gander, and see what I can find.

Take care
