Lighting in the hightop?
Has anyone else considered putting some form of lighting in the hightop section?
Short of getting some of the OSRAM Dot-It Stick on lights, I've been looking for a more permenant solution..
Any idea's ? or anyone tackled this problem?

Aha! Nice one matey!
Can I ask how you mounted them? as I cant see how, without it going all the way through the hightop!

Re: Lighting in the hightop?
i screwed into the interior panels of the high top with small screws, but in the rear the led's are recessed,so they push through from the front and are held in place with a bracket around the back(wish i'd took some pics now!)

Re: Lighting in the hightop?
in the old one i had standard kitchen/bathroom downlighters - the cheap pressed type cos they don't need as much depth. fitted them with some 12v mr16 LED lamps, worked a treat. biggest problem will be getting the wires to where you want them if you are not planning on taking the whole thing to bits!
Re: Lighting in the hightop?
I got five 240V slimline flourescents in my Leisuredrive hightop. Two are up in the roof. Each has its own switch and they are all connected to a 300W invertor. The invertor switch is within reach of the bed so I can turn it off upon retiring. I can select one or more depending upon the need of the moment. I installed this setup after years of livng in dim and dismal misery over the years of using inadequate incandescant lamps and those 12V strip lights or integral inverter flouescents. My new lights come with a plug in cable and I have a couple I can use under the awning as well. I notice some of these massive vans come fitted with those ridiculous flush spotlights. What on earth are the designers thinking....

If you don't want to risk or like the idea of drilling holes into your roof then you could use Silkaflex to bond a backing support for the light unit to the roof but you would have to remove a small section of the lining. Choice of materials is wide, i.e, MDF, aluminium strips or brackets, etc. You could also bond plastic trunking for the wiring.
