New VW Heat Exchangers?

Post by mojo175 »

I hope this isn't a stupid question but I am wanting to replace the heat exchangers on my 81 2.0 T25 and wondered where best to buy them from?
I had a look on VAGCAT and noticed that both heat exchangers are still showing as available, does that mean I can go into my local VW dealer with the part number and ask them to order them? If that is true does anyone have any idea what they might cost?

Be interested to know the answer to the question seeing that they're nearly £180 each through JK and VW Heritage

mojo175, the best thing to do is to phone/email your local VW Commercial dealership (parts dept.) & ask them. Some parts still showing on vagcat may still be available in theory but getting a dealership to order the parts is another matter entirely. They are not really interested in Type 2s. :(

I just spoke to my local vw van centre and they checked and said they can get them from germany in 7 to 10 working days but at a cost of.........
LHS £393.00 + VAT, RHS £408.00 plus VAT

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy decent quality ones at a reasonable price?

If you want any sort of heat in the winter then only VW ones really work, pattern ones are only any good for fairweather campers.
