Just wondering how do you remove the grill if you fit an eyebrow which obviously covers the screws at the top?
i know it can be done just satisfying my curiosity.
Also what is the bodge you need to do to fit mark 1 golf lights instead of the standard t25 lights- is there a guide online.
Also does anyone know the area of the roof as i'm thinking of chequering it up and need the area- i can't measure it as its living at my parents currently.
hi mate,i,like a lot of others on here, have drilled a hole at either side of the brow and used brass screws to screw into the grill.some others have glued them on.don't know about the lights, but i deffo think you should chequer the roof,it will look mint!
That's real weird, i just came here to post about chequering the roof and there's a post already here.
My question is, better to use vinyl sticky back plastic, or paint it direct using the old roller technique. or fork out (again!) for a spray - what were you thinking?
Do you send some time at the Gower, sure i've seen that van (which is awesome bwt!) down there, and looks like Gennith campsite in the photo?
with the eyebrow spoiler fitted take out the outer screw holders and cable tie the grill back on the van ! thats how ive done mine anyway hope this helps...
You did see it at the Gower yeah and yep is gennith campsite.
was either gonna be fork out for spray just for the roof or theres company's that if you give them dimension will cut out the vinal for the roof then i'll painstakingly apply it.
My mate is doing a photoshop for me so once its done i'll post it up- can you do me a favour and measure the area of the roof for me as my bus is at my parents at the minute that way i can get a quote on the vinal.
good old cable ties hey- they'll fix anything. not a bad idea will definately consider it.
ok, measurement gutter to gutter (but not including gutter itself) is 155cm, measurement from top of front window seal to back window seal (which might be further than required, not sure where I would draw the line) is 350cm.
do they do one piece on a roll, or seperate squares?
i assume you were thinking black and white.
should probably put an inch or 2 extra all round for shapeage, obviously there's the ridges on the roof to overcome, am also thinking would look good to line the gutter too, and then replace the trim over the top for a neat edge - might protect it a bit too?
let me know how you get on with the quote? what's the company?
they do a centre section for the spacing then individual squares so you can work your way from the middle outwards and have the spacing right- theoretically.
Guessin its gonna be pretty difficult and a good days work thats why i'm waiting for my mate to do the photoshop before going ahead.
I was gonna go for black and yellow- hence why i'd only need the black squares and use the yellow paint underneath.
Waiting for the quote to come back- i wonder how much a proffesional company would charge???
the gutter trim idea is a good one stop it peeling up at the edges- only thing i'm worried about is the paint fade or damaging the paint underneath the vynal. i guess if i like it and that happens go the whole hog and get it painted on.
theres a few companies on ebay that offer custom made packages- thats where i found them
i was thinking of black and white on mine (i've got black and white flooring in the back), which i think would look good on yours too. Mine's red underneath.
let me know what you decide to do. i'm still wondering if it might be one of those jobs where you get hal way through and think "hmm", never really played with vinyl before but can imagine with all those curves and bumps might be something of a nightmare.
