Brake Servo Hose

Post by ANDKAT »

I need to replace the brake servo vacuum hose on the 1.9 DG engine in my van. This is the flexible braided hose that runs from the n/s inlet manifold up to the non-return valve. I've currently got an offcut of some other sort of hose but it keeps squashing and I know that's not good.

I have searched the JK & GSF websites but neither of them stock this item. The hose is the rubber braided type, similar to the flexible fuel pipe used by VW but much wider in diameter. I may try a local motor factors to see if they can help. Has anyone replaced one of these hoses & do you know what the internal diameter is?
Life would be boring if it wasn't for the kids.....Does anyone want my four so I can be bored!!

yes I replaced mine as it was leaking like a seive.

I asked Billy739 for one.
secondhand is the way to go as it's obsolete from VW... the later vans had a clear plastic pipe rather than a braided hose.

internal Dia. is approx. 10mm
AGG 2.0L 8V. (Golf GTi MkIII)

I thought that ANDKAT's post looked familiar, it's my ''Brake Servo Vacuum Hose'' post copied word for word.

The reinforced hose is still listed on VagCat but in 5 metre lengths. Maybe VW commercial dealers will sell it it short lengths. I was given a replacement vacuum hose (clear type) by Grumpy Midget (Jeff) & it's made a big difference to the feel of the brakes on my van.

ANDKAT, phone VW & ask if they have still sell it. I did have the part number written down but I've lost it.

In the main diagram the part number is N 0203921but in the inset diagram the part number is N 0203921. This hose is not stocked by Brickyard, GSF or JK.

ANDKAT, I've just had an email from VW Commercial in Trafford Park, Manchester regarding the brake servo vacuum hose. In theory it is still available BUT! because it costs over £30 for a 5 metre length they don't stock it. They reckon that very few VW Commercial dealers will stock it for this reason. :(

Brilliant never simple is it?

I'm going to try my dealer tomorrow and maybe a couple of the other local garages.
If this fails is there anything else that would be suitable to use?
