Fridge help

Post by MrsPocolow »

We bought an Electrolux 212a fridge off ebay and have tested it with electric (everything OK) but not with gas yet. My questions are, does anyone have a manual for this fridge in PDF format (tried the link on the wiki but no results for that model and everything seems to be in German)? Secondly, the back of the fridge is pretty rusty and I'm wondering whether we need to do anything with it (have read the Wiki)? The fridge casing has rust spots which we were going to rub down and treat with Hammerite. What's the best thing for the back?

The fridge is a bit of a shed but it works and was £20 and this is a Homebrew on a budget. :lol:

Any advice greatfully received. :)

Found this on another camping forum............

There is a RM212 manual but it's in German still I didn't think there were any 212 manuals on Dometic's website?

All I can say is the RM212A through F are all essentially the same so any manual will do as long as it's in English!

Does date the van though if your interested, the 'A' had changed to 'B' by 82/3, but has anyone ever come across a C or D??

There are 212F manuals (in English) http://www.club80-90.co.uk/pages/downlo ... 2Elect.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and http://www.club80-90.co.uk/pages/downlo ... xRM212.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in the downloads section of 'Club stuff' top of page.

I used a medium grade wet 'n' dry (not wet tho) and gently removed flaky rust carefully by hand and then applied rust inhibitor (i,e Dinitrol or eqivalent). You could spray the fins with matt black paint (might need a high temperature one tho) but the rust inhibitor will turn the rust to black anyway. It will look like new .........for about year or so! :D

Hi,

You used to be able to get the manual from Electrolux direct. I did have it saved on my old desk top pc as a PDF. I will have a look for you and PM you if I still have it.
