You lucky people..

Post by Simon Baxter »

Just had a few days down in Devon with CJ, Kat, Fred new addition Fern and Gabby the dog.
Done a fair bit of Green laning while there reccying ome lanes for the Devon Syncro weekend.
Found a couple of corkers quite local to the campsite! Looks like there maybe something to keep the friday evening camper happy this year with a bit of dusk laning.
We struggled to find the entrance to one marked on a map, it was buried behind a load of bails of hay and looked like a stream, infact it was!
Farmer type said we would never get through it, and they have had to pull landies, shoguns etc out of there.
You should never tell CJ he can't get accross something!
In all fairness we did get stuck, down to a syncro weakness too!
Seems as we had entered a narrow part over a yump some greenery had decided to unplug the vacuum feed for the vacuum reservoir and left us without diff locks!
Bugger!
Out of the windows!
A couple of minutes with a farm jack saw us backed up, pipe reconnected and on out merry way.
Just to show off we turned around and went back and exited through the farm!

So, lesson learnt, syncro's are fairly average with no diff locks and maybe something to watch out for in the future, maybe even fabricate a small protection piece to protect this vulnerable area.

Good weekend, things are panning out for an even better weekend this year.

It depends on the driver Cate, last year we were split into 2 groups, one group where body damage was par for the course, one where it was a possibility but highly unlikely.
We appreciate that not everyone is into screwing up their pride and joy for the sake of a bit of off roading!
This year we expect there to be 3 groups, due to numbers.
Some drive gnarlers and don't mind a bit of a bend here and there, some like the scenery and the chance to have a guided tour of Exmoor and the Quantocks..
There is something for everyone.

I think that was a dig at me for forcibly removing one of the mirrors on a bit of tree, also ran over it
I got plenty of new ones here, aswell as a decent amount of new endcaps.

Believe the scenic route is rather nice, though we seemed to be in some sort of network ancient undergorund tunnels most of the time

I think they called that the more challenging route, it certainly challenged roofs, windows, sides and rear-quarters on mine. Anyone designing bolt-on external cages for Dokas?

best not do one lane near the campsite then, when finished had to walk back up to pick up all the shrapnel (wheelarch spats, mirrors, end caps, aerial) good lane though, maybe if enough interest well do it,cj.
