I've got a three way fridge that I don't use on gas and a two burner stove that burns only on one burner. The safety device on the stove valve has failed not the thermocouple bit that sticks into the flame. I know because I've swapped them over on the stove and the one that works still works with the bits swapped over. The wire inside the valve has come off, tried soldering it back on but it doesn't work. Question: if I pull off the valve from the fridge that I don't use and pop it into the stove do you think it could work? I'm thinking its just a valve with thermocouple so what's the difference? I'm thinking of giving it a go tommorow so if you have any knowledge let me know in case its an early bbq.
Regards,
Dubwana

Hey Dubwana your name popped up during a conversation I was having with a fellow 80-90 member at the recent Bustypes show here in Blighty.......and the next thing you know Geds a millionare and I'm here I am trying to answer one of your questions...
You said......
pardon me but I always thought the bit that sticks in the flame, was know as the thermocouple ??
The thing is if you don't try it you will never know if it fixes it ,so all I can say is 'Go for it',,,,,personally if we had the weather you had we would have a 'Barbie' 3 times a day and every half hour just for a brew...

I believe you are correct. I wasn't totally clear. The part that was faulty is the safety device inside the valve that switches it off when the flame is blown out. My thought when I put up the question was to simply change the valves over. However it doesn't easily fit as the gas line out comes off at 45 degree angle to the fridge and on the burners its at 90 degrees. Even so, withing 10 minutes of putting the question there I got the answer and pulled apart the fridge valve, took out out the cut off valve that is attached to? part of? the thermocouple and switched them over. Now the stove works and the fridge can't work as the faulty one is always in the OFF position. It was getting late when I did it so I just need to do a soap bubble test in daylight now.
thanks for the reply. However this time just asking the question helped me get the answer!!
How's spring? Rainy season finally arrived here
