Fridge flue question

Bottom right corner of flue - mine used to sit on an asbestos block - I plan to refit as before - does anyone know if the metal box at the bottom gets hot.

I ask as I am making up my seal around the back of the fridge to aid air flow bottom to top - from foil covered bubble wrap. I want to know if I need to give clearance to this area.

Is the asbestos bit there as the bottom only can get hot???

If noone knows I will be experimenting later this week and tell you the answer....?

If you are talking about the metal box at the bottom of the insulated part of the flue, that is probably there as a heat shield, and as such it probably gives enough clearance, but if it was me I would be looking to add something extra there as it is better to be safe than sorry.

I would also think that there is a lot of moisture there which might explain some of the rust that can often be found in the panel below the fridge.
