Haynes Wiring diagram Problem 2

How do I find out what the numbered terminals to parts do in my Haynes wiring diagram?
For example there are 5 wires going to the wiper motor found on current track 60-62.
One of them joins at terminal 53b, how do I find out what speed wipe this is?

Is there further information to be found?

If you can help, it would be much appreciated.
