My radio / cd player wont fit

Bought a Radio / CD player the other day and have tried fitting it today. There is not enough room to take the whole machine, it sticks out about 1/4 of an inch. I have been back to the shop and all their radio / CD players are the same depth. Is there a knack to fitting them or do you have to fit them somewhere else?? Please someone help - I am at my wits end.

a common problem with these vans.you may have to buy one of thesehttp://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?o ... 8&Itemid=6...the stereo will still stick out but wont look as unsightly..

Most of em are a tight fit BUT remove the ashtray and guide the wires either above or below the unit nice n snug and it should fit - very rare for a unit not to fit at all these days as they all tend to be around the same dimensions. If not then get the spacer and ensure that your linkage is trop notch and get the shortshift kit else you'll keep bashing your knuckles and losing Radio 2...

Hi Suszy As rob said you need a spacer as well as brickwerks I got mine from a local motor factor mine is a 20mm spacer and it fits a treat. hope this helps.Hobopatch.

I found that careful repositioning of wiring gave that last little bit to allow mine to fit flush - it's a tight fit at the back without any trapped wires etc. Aerial plug can be adapted with a right angled adaptor. Definately go in through the ashtray as Peet said to move the wires.

Have done a google on a RH or angled adapter but can only find coax not a car radio one - any ideas where I can get one from?

Think you can get a rigth angled adaptor on the brickwerks site too.

Thanks for all your help guys, but after much searching on the internet, I have found the Blaupunkt Melbourne SD27 car radio which has no CD capacity, making it a whole 2 cm shallower !!! result.

Didnt want the CD capability anyway as I plug my Ipod in!!.

for anyone who has viewed this post, for your info, the standard depth of the car radios is 17cm, this one is 15cm. not a bad price either.
