Fuel gauge broke cos ive bin fiddlin

Post by Groovie »

I fitted a new stereo head unit today to my early van. All went well till i filled up the glove box with CDs and slammed it shut , knocking the lid off the fuse box.
I put the fuses back straight. Now the fuel gauge is not working .
Dont know if i broke it smacking it with CDs or fiddling in the dash with the head unit or just coincidence
I tried to trace the wires from the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual but i cant even workout the colour codes.
Please help or i will have to drive everywhere with a fuel can in the back.

Try giving the multipin connector from the loom to the printed circuit behind the 'clocks' a Gentle wiggle.
Pin 7 (T14/7 centre of Haynes page 12.30) connects the fuel gauge to the sender. Wire is Lilac/Black.

Groovie,
There is a picture of the multipin connection (Printed Circuit part) in this thread. Scroll down to the second photo. Connections are a bit delicate and subject to damage and corrosion.
Possibly you have disturbed them during your 'Fiddlin' :D
