Cold Start Lever ? ?

Post by peteabbott »

Just got my 1Y in and just have a queiry with the pump if someone can help please.
Now I have ignored all the dangly wires and just used solenoid wire..........good so far eh ?
The thing I do not understand is the cold start/advance lever. The one I have the arm is sprung loaded
and at rest it is pointing towards the front of the van, this means that the solenoid that operates it will
have to push it off. I would have expected it to be pulled on by the solenoid (towards the front of van)
and when the solenoid lets go the spring would take over and hold it in its off position. Wont sleep tonight
as I cant make any sense of this. What am I missing here ?
Thanks

Hi Pete, Unfortunately the 1Y cold start is not Manual. the car that it came with a totaly different wiring loom from your T25 had an Engine Management System. Come on now Pete :idea you dont expect miracles aswell do you------------- :ok

Yeah thanks mate...............but even so with energy management this solenoid is designed to pull and not push and there would be no point in it pulling because the arm is already "made" to be there by the spring. I just need to know which way is on/off and I will adjust the stops if I cant use it so it is in the normal running position and see how it starts with heater plugs alone, oooo dont know though I may fit a longer arm and use the old cable........that is as long as towards the front is on. Pushing me luck now, think I will shutup. You get like this when your hair starts to fall out and what you have left turns silver
Oh yeah what do you want for the wooly hat ? AND miracles do happen at Easter apparently, "leave my eggs alone, I will be back Monday"
