no power underload!

Post by sharonjpp »

l stupidly thought l had nearly compleated my 1.6 - 1.9 1Y conversion only taken 5 mnths and coming close to a nervous breakdown finally everything had been done and l was ready for the first test drive, pulled away then when l try to excelerate nothing no power,l took the air filter out and there is a improvement, the engine idle's fine but half way through the rev range starts to splutter and give's out white smoke,it can be driven but feel's like it has no grunt,l had the timing done but still feel's like it's out, any idea's?

I fitted a 1Y engine the injection pump throttle arm needed to be adjusted on its shaft splines. This sorted out not enough revs when i reconnected the throttle cable for the test drive.

What timing did you have done engine only ?. White smoke and no power =========== Pump Timing is out ============== :run

RN diesel in wolverhampton did my pump last week, very pleased with there work,2 chap's working out of a small unit, dropped pump in at 2.00 was done for the next morning changed a bush, bench tested it and fitted new brickwerks aaz levers £60 they do recon's for as little as £80.

I see you failed to tell us that you had work done on your diesel pump, Did these chaps tell you after fitting the new bush they replaced, and Bench tested it after fitting Brickworks throttle levers, ( Did they sey that they had set up your pump to fire on No 1 Cylinder) I personaly think that this is your problem as I have said in previous post. White Smoke No power Erratic running (Pump timing is out) You will dammage your engine if this is not corrected.---------- :ok
