I have been having trouble with my T25 transporter high top. When i leave it for a period of time and its on an incline the fuel drops back and the manual pump on the van does not seem man enough to pull the fuel through.
I was thinking maybe of changing over to an electric fuel pump to resolve this problem. Can any of you who may have encountered this problem ....recommend a suitable electric fuel pump that would suit the T25
I would check the in-line filter first, if you can't suck fuel up the inlet easily then it needs replacing. Also check the length of the push rod, the fuel pump should be man enough to cope with an incline.

They will not be cheap (approx £200), but at the end of the day you don't want a cheap fuel pump to fail and burn out your van !!!
There's no need to pay £200 for a mechanical fuel pump if thunderz2000 has a van with a 1.9 DG WBX or a 1.6 CT a/c engine. A replacement fuel pump would cost around £25 - £40. However, if his van has a 2.0l CU a/c engine then the fuel pump is obsolete & it may be possible to get one from VW Heritage. If a mechanical fuel pump fails it just stops pumping fuel to the carb, it shouldn't present a fire risk.
It would be helpful if thunderz2000 told us what engine is in his van.

the van is a 1984 hi top t25 with the water cooled engine. im curious to know if im better putting an original pump back and try that...i can suck fuel thru but the pump dosent send it back out

OK Thunderz2000, now we know that your van has a w/c petrol engine, being a 1984 it is most likely to be a 1.9DG. It's likely that your fuel pump is worn out or got a faulty diaphragm. Your best bet is to buy a new fuel pump. The OEM fuel pump is a Pierburg & they were on sale for around £40-£45. They are cheaper at GSF than JK & that's before your club discount. Originally the inlet/outlet pipes were aligned, one above the other but now they are not aligned & one pipe may need to be bent slightly to avoid kinking the fuel hose. It's an easy job to swap a fuel pump although access is rather restricted. Don't forget to purchase 2 gaskets (non identical) for above & below the pedestal.

thanks mate for ur help...i seem to have solved the fuel pump issue now with a replacemnt...which as always on these old campers throw up another proble. a lazy starter motor now...gawd i seem to be throwing money at this old bus day after day. Shes in for MOT at the moment...fingers crossed...ll let u know whats next...lol
