T25 Electrics
Hi All, I've just bought my first ever camper (89 Kameo conversion) so apologies if my questions are really basic and verging on the ridiculous!!! As this is my first camper, I'm learning everything and got a quick question on the electrics. I'm assuming the leisure battery supplies just the lights and fridge etc when on the move, with the plug sockets only working with a hook up - Is this correct? Also, are there any switches to press when using hook up? Any help would be much appreciated as I'm looking to spend Easter weekend on my first "Hook UP" site and don't want to blow the van up!!! Any help would be appreciated! - Thanks

Hi Kershy, welcome t'club.

The leisure battery will power the interior lights. A 2-way fridge is powered from the alternator when on the move & when stationary by LPG, either butane of propane according to what regulator you have in your van. Blue regulator=butane & red=propane. A 3-way fridge will have the additional option of using 230v via hook-up when on a camp site.
No doubt an Autohomes owner will be along soon to tell you about the switches that are peculiar to that particular conversion.

Re: T25 Electrics
Fairly straightforward, you should have a control panel (usually marked ZIG unless it has been replaced). Mine is an 87 so a bit earlier than yours but look on the panel and you should have three rocker switches. One is to switch the in built leisure battery charger on when you are on mains hook up and switch it 'off' when you are driving. The second marked 'Touring' - 'On-Site' or similar should be set to 'on-Site' when you are on electric hook -up and Touring when you are driving. The 3rd smaller rocker switch is marked 'On-Off' and this simply switches the supply to all your leisure electrical equipment 'on' or 'off'. Manual says it should be off when driving but it won't cause any problems if left on. The various fuses protect the appliances in the leisure compartment and one protects the Zig charger.
In your cupboard you will have a Circuit Breaker and this will disconnect the mains from the van if you have a faulty appliance or try to use too much power from the mains hook up. There are two circuit breaker switches, one for the fridge and the other for the 13A sockets. If they trip you need to switch off the appliance currently in use and reset them. Thats about it really, have fun!

Cheers for the advise - I've already seen the breaker so will have a good root for the Control Panel. Thanks again!

It should be clearly and easily seen (if fitted) and surface mounted on one of the furniture panels or over the small sink for easy access. It also has the fresh water tank gauge and LED display for battery condition.
