my van

Post by samk »

Been around for a while and thought it was time to post some proper piccies of my van. I'm currently trying to gently smarten up (rather than full restore). I'm trying to keep it as original as possible - maybe a few little mods along the way i.e clear indicators and having it lowered. Perhaps a re-spray eventually!

Old skool seats - i like them, my back tries to argue sometimes though!

Nice looking van. Is it a pop-top....was just interested in the roof rack on the front?

Hi All,

thanks for the comments - it's not the prettiest van in many ways but it's grown on me over the past few months!

treefiddy - it is a pop top - the back goes straight up with hard sides

cypriot - i would post a picture with the top up but its broken! :| it did leak, i fixed that now a gas strut has popped out - going to fix it next week...hopefully!

Cool van, seems to be more and more Aircooled popping up at the moment.

nothing beats causing 20 mile tail backs because the little aicooled is struggling wit flat roads let alone hills lol

I would leave the ride height of the van alone. It will only lead to a lot of problems later on (not to mention your back !). I have to admit I quite like the stock ride height of mine (I can see over hedges to see what's around the corner).

I have also noticed (well from the pics anyway) that you don't have any rust spots on the windscreen corners (mine has but it hasn't leaked at all 3 years on). Do you have any bigger pics of your van ? It will give me a good idea of what my van should have (eg. stickers on the bodywork, etc).

Nice van, I do love the air cooled, mine was but then the engin blow up and I wanted to do something abit different but didn't want to get rid of my van. RE the seats, I had those exact seats for 2 years but my back said enough is enough, and now I have supper comfy Ford Scorpio leather and I have never looked back. have a look at my thread there are pics of them on there.

if you click on the pictures they should increase in size. I do have some small rust patches at the bottom of the windscreen but fortunatly they're not too bad - for now!

sticker wise the detail on the front of my van would have originalyl continued down the sides but they were removed at some point by a previous owner. someone on here posted a link to a german site that had PDFs of all camper conversion broshures - really good photos but unfortunatly i cant remember the web address now
