1.6 diesel running fault
I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I have with a 1.6 jk diesel, it starts and ticks over with no problem but when i get to 40/50 mph it seems to fade power wise and when you change down a gear it chugs and cuts out, it then starts and ticks over again with no problems and then does the same again ?? , has anyone suffered with this before ?
Many thanks
Many thanks

Yes i fitted a brand new one shortly after it started playing up and checked the lines for air leaks and found nothing and no change.

I'd check the contition of your fuel tank and filer neck too, if there's rust debris getting into your tank and blocking the fuel lines you'l loose power when alot of fuel is being drawn. Had this happen on my petrol Rocco and cured it by REMOVING THE FILLER CAP then putting an air line from a compressor onto the fuel rail where the filter would be and blowing the lines through.

Try going for a drive with the fuel filler cap off if the tank cant get air into the tank it creates a vacume and stops the engine !!!! Used to happen on army landrovers alot, if that cures it you need a new cap!

There could also be a possible issue on the air side of things. Those pipes that lead up from the air filte to the intake in the vents have been know to become saggy and collapse into themselves, especially at higher speeds when more air gets sucked through. No harm in giving that pipe a quick glance, anyway
