drive away awnings

Post by Wilma »

Has anyone any experience of the Royal Traveller 3 awning? Need a drive away one and this looks good. Another possibility is the Bregenze from Germany. Snag may be that it is designed for left hand drive vans and when put on a good old English one you can't open the drivers door.

We have got a royal traveller its OK the only prob is the bit that connects to the van is too level so collects rain, I always rig the extra poles with a bent piece of copper pipe to push up centre of joining bit ( this is a prob with most awnings depending on the height of your gutter). This said it has stood up to some fair old winds connected to the van and amazingly when freestanding but I did use better pegs for the guys than the ones supplied. The other thing is to get a skirt for between the wheels if it is going to be cold.

The trigano bivouac car is the one and only ! I havehad mine for about5 yearsandwithout doubtwould get another. Packs away so neatly and can be put up quicklyand easily. And best of all ! its a throw over the top of the van attachment !!!!! Maybe the priceis just as gooda feature asit only £80
