Have any of you ofroaders heard of "Tommys Farm"

Post by shepster »

I do a fair bit of off road motorcycling, Greenlaning (although not for much longer) the odd enduro, classic trials and i go to a place in Wales we all call "Tommys farm" which is in Rhayder. This guy owns 650 acres of what can only be described as 'offroad heaven' and varies from gentle muddy tracks to hills and climbs that you have trouble walking up never mind driving up and everything in between. He charges £7 a day for bikes so i can't see it being much more for a van and there are always Landrovers/Suzuki jeeps/ Quads etc up there so a bunch of VW's shouldn't be a problem you can also stop over night if you like.
His number is 01597 870202.

yeah, we went down there to see him, ive seen some places in my time, but that was an eye opener, to say the least..........

if he cleared some of the crap up he'd have a nice place there, just picking some of the scrap up would make a world of difference...

It can be a bit like that, i've only ever been on a bike, and never stopped overnight, previously we would just get the bikes out of the vans and dissapear for 3-4 hrs only coming back for grub we would hardly see anyone but last time i went my lad came with us on his bike, he's only 7, so we spent a lot more time around the vans and i can see what Mocki is saying. The only advice i can offer is if you can get as far away from the 'mainstream' as you can to park up and when you do get going head away from the popular bits it really is worth a look.

It's a fking shthole.

I don't care what anyone says. That man should be banned from keeping animals and have the land taken from him.

It's overused, chewed to hell and back and there is no such thing as 'health & safety' there.

There is litter everywhere as well as all of the scrap and knackered tyres are strewn all around the site. It's the sort of place that just invites gonzo off roaders of the type who give all off roaders a bad name.

We were promised exclusive use of the site for the weekend, for a not insubstantial sum and did not get it - bikes everywhere, including riding through where we were all pitched up. The man lies and is greedy. I should imagine the air ambulance is a regular feature.

Simply do not give him your money - there are plenty of other pay & play sites all of which will be.... well I would say 'better run', but just 'run' rather than 'money taken for' would be an improvement.
