how can i get the tdc whilst my engine is bolted to an engine stand?

and how do i get that Coolant Reservoir tank to fit my van, the one u sold me which is no no good and neve got back to me about it, and still not open the pm i sent you, :twisted:

I don't really wish to become involve in a 'domestic' but have you tried removing the bottom pulley and cover so you can see where the key way is which will help you with the crankshaft initial position,,,,,,,this is assuming the flywheel has been removed.

flywheel is off the engine, what if number one piston is at the top of its barrel, surely that is top dead centre :?:
give me a good old fashioned wedge and i'll be happy!

It could also be on the exhaust stroke if you go by that aloan!!

the piston will be at the top of its stroke on the squeeze and blow stroke!! and as you dont have a timing belt on the engine be carefull you dont bend a valve!

Herme, what manual are you using as a guide to replacing the Cambelt ?
Also I hope you are using a timing pin to hold the pump during tensioning, otherwise if you get it wrong it will smoke like a 'Rasta' once/if you get it running...
