fitting windows to panel van

Post by jonnyels »

hi there i have just purchased two windows for my panel van from LVW (leisure veicle windows).
has anybody out there brought from theses guys and fitted the windows themselfs.

they will be sending me a kit for fitting them so i could do it my self as i am a sheet metal worker im hopeing it should be straight forward and easy.has any one out there done this themselfs and if so do you have any tips.

on the other hand i could just get some one else to fit them for £100.any advice would be great

I've not done one recently, the last time I did, I did it oe the course of a weekend, measure and cut the hole, take off any burrs, paint the edges, before I put in the window I put sylglass (it's an oily putty type tape, it never dries, it was to protect the edge under the rubber,, I've seen panel vans in the past where they've roted around the rubbers, mine never did)
one other thing i did, was fit the window rubber inside out, so the filler strip is on the inside, the first one I did, the filler strip perished and fell out
it can't won't if it's on the inside
