I have a 1980 T3 and it doesn't come with a rear foglight. I guess it's not required for commercial vehicles for that age. I wonder when it became a requirement? :idea
was....82 Westy, 80 Mk. 3 Transporter, 69 Bay
now....66 T1 LHD 1.6 Bus

yea its weird as there is the hole for it and the loom has a wire going to it and there is a switch on the dash for it (but that was prob added by the guy who imported it). maybe it was an extra? just wandered if any one had converted one?

MOT wise, it's 1st April 1980 registered onward that a rear fog light is required, either central or offside.
I assume that it must be possible to find a replacement bulb holder for a uk spec van with the fog light bulb connectors, but probably not ever so cheap (nothing is on these vans. I've thought about looking for one but never got round to it). I just fitted a bolt on one to meet MOT requiremnets when first registered the van and have left it at that.
I agree it would look better though with a proper one in the lamp cluster to match the other side.
What a long strange trip it's been

As said UK needs a rear fog from april 1980 so its possable a really early van doesn't need them, wonder if they had them as standard anyway in UK?

Europe seemed a long way behind us on mandatory foglights so yes alot of LHD vans don't have them, was an option (even more strange you see quite a few german vans with front fogs but still no rear - presume people spec the front ones as they need them?). Chances are they'll have the wireing going into the LH light cluster (bad luck if they don't, switch will probubly be missing too but again, wireing for it might be behind it if your lucky) but definately not the right side, you need to extend/swap this over to the right cluster (its a standard 6.3mm locking female spade terminal that goes in the multiplug). Then you just need a RH light unit WITH foglight (back bit has extra contact, lens has extra reflector), which of corse you won't have, get RH unit from british breakers, along with dash switch if needed. If you do have a left hand fog you can mount each side in the wrong side somehow and it should pass an MOT and look a bit funny.
