Westy variations

just wondering what the difference between the westy models is (atlantic, california, joker etc...) are some better than others?

Hi Olly - had a quick look on some of the sites I was looking at when I was looking to buy cos I'm sure I found something that talked abouth the differences. Can't find it for the mo though.

I think it's to do with the spec. each coming with it's own specs, but all had optional extras. I think the Atlantic has double glazing. My Cali has power steering, don't know if that is standard though, I think all Jokers have power steering, but might be wrong.

if it's your first van - most important thing - as you will know if you've been reading up a bit - is bodywork. they've all got rust, but you want to be looking for a van with as little of it as poss!

yeah, bodywork is top of my list of priorities - in fact i am easy about whether it is pop top, or high-top, lhd or rhd, petrol or diesel.... so hopefully the right van will come along before too long!

It is quite complicated and not as straight forward as I'm going to put it but Joker and Club Joker became California and Altlantic around 1987
So Club Joker and Altlantic are the higher specified models, typically having double glazed windows, factory alloys, with some having cruise control, aircon and metalic paint etc
Earlier interiors were typically brown in colour....later went to grey.
All will have cold water and waste tanks, underslung LPG, Eberspacher heating, Captains seats, 3 way fridge, R&R bed, Leisure battery setup, cupboards, draws, sink etc rear blow heating.
There are a few exceptions with basic Jokers etc but i am generalising.

I couldn't agree more with previous statements, bodywork is god! thats your first concern, followed by engine/gearbox and then the model.
