Single or Multi-point injection LPG on 2.1 Syncro T25...?

Post by tonka »

Hi All,

Am new to this but have been recently researching LPG conversions. Have just bought a 1989 2.1 Syncro Bus and want to convert it so can enjoy it more without my wallet screaming so much.

What are the relative merits of a multi point system over a single point for fitting onto an engine such as the 2.1 cc DJ engine in my syncro?

Does it not need multi as is a basic sort of engine or would it benefit from this? What cost is involved for either and what should I bear in mind?

Sorry for all the questions, I want to get this conversion right and do it appropriately, but I don't want to waste money on something that is not needed.

Thanks ahead for your help.

Cheers

The system used on the 2.1 is a dumb injection system, this topic is covered on the wiki.
You cannot fit multi point to a 2.1 unless you introduce a lambda probe (DJ only as MV / SS usually have them fitted) throttle stop and throttle position, this makes it a very expensive conversion and unless you really want multi point then single point is the way to go, I have 148 2.1 conversions on my books at the moment, all using the single point variable mixture open loop system.

Hi Steve,

Cheers for the response. Spoke to some peeps down my way earlier today, the greenfuel company and they di not mention about some of what you said. They only do multi point.

Be good to have a chat with you about whats involved, location, options etc. Am really keen to get this done. As I know will use the Tonk even more that way.

Whats the best number to get you on?

Ta

Have a look around www.gasure.co.uk you will see the various conversions and tank options, then give me a ring on 01244 288862 between 9am and 6pm

Give them a ring back and tell them it does not have a lambda probe nor does it have a throttle stop or position sensor and see what they say then.

Thanks for the advice there.

Am well busy with some work at the moment, but will give you a call to go this. Aidan mentioned that it would be around £800 ish to get a system fitted.

Cheers

Adam

P.S. Would I have to bring the vehicle to you or do you come to the vehicle with the bits needed?
