Engine Code - VW .455
My first post and probably a good place to start is to try and find out what replacement engine is in my 1985 Autosleeper 1.9 petrol. Where the engine code would normally be is stamped VW (in a small circle) followed by .455 It was fitted by a garage under the previous owner in 1996 and any info about the type and origin of the engine greatly appreciated as there is no other info available.

Welcome to the Club
The engine's a VW rebuild ... normally the 1.9 would have DF or DG as a prefix.

vw exchange built week 45 1995, there will be a date stamped on the heads and the initials of the guy who built it and on the top of the case on the top at the front both case halves will be stamped with a number which will be the same
