exhaust part

Post by pmc »

Hi, I need some advice about an exhaust part.
My van is a 1985 with a DH1.9 injection engine. The section of pipe from the silencer to the manifold pipes has a large break in it. :(
In the exhaust section of the Wiki the pipe is part 20049 and its connected to the manifold pipes by part 20049G - I believe these are GSF part numbers.
My problem is that my van doesn't have these two pipe sections it's all one piece.Aso the Wiki diagram doesn't show part 20049 as having the lambda sensor hole/nut.
I've also checked vagcat and it shows the pipe as all one section and with the lambda fitting.
I'd really like to avoid paying VW dealer prices and don't really want to end up drilling and welding bits of pipe, so -
can I buy the GSF parts and will they fit
or does anyone know where I can purchase a suitable pipe?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - especially by my neighbours who can't stand the noise!
thanks,
phil

hi have a think about getting a stainless steel one from jp exhausts macclesfield, the latest one with extra supports will probably last longer than the rest of my van.they aint cheap but neither are the vw parts and the jk ones are pants although are cheap, pretty sweet experience getting one fitted the bloke who fits em at macclesfield is a vw beetle owner and his bug is the nuts a proper nice one.we camped outside the factory where there was a great northern pub with plenty friendly locals on the corner of the street where jp are.
they aint cheap bro but man does it sound sweet with no loss of that vw music oh yer,(just an option although a repair with collars could be achieved for a fraction of the cost)
good luck with the repair or replacement

OK well part 20049G is a replacement pipe for the Catty with the lambda. There is only one pipe from the silencer to the cast elbow. At this point the pipe branches into two. (front and rear sections)
this section is available from GSF
AGG 2.0L 8V. (Golf GTi MkIII)

thanks for the replies - while I would love a stainless steel exhaust I don't think the missus would be impressed - so it's off to GSF -
thanks'
