Windscreen Washers Jets

Sounds a daft question and it probably is.

How do you replace the triangular black windscreen washers jets on the front of the van.
I have a new set, but it is not obvious to me how to get the old ones off with causing any damage. I see the new ones have plastic wings which hold them in position when they have been inserted, which means the old ones have too and which will prevent them from just pulling off.

Anyone done these before?

I've not done this, but I think the options are to pull the dashboard out and squeeze the lugs in, or use mole grips to rip em off.
If you rip em off, hopefully you will be able to attach the new ones to the tubing.

Damn. I had the dash out to replace the blower motor and the washer jets went "breasticles up" a few weeks after that.

Ouch. Sounds nasty. That might it damage the paint or metalwork. Not sure I like the sound of that.

Not knowing my luck. I rather suspect the end of the jet and tubing will disappear into the 'abyss'.

But they never do!
Usually end up fairly mangled once they come off.
Drop new ones in a cup of hot water to soften them before you fit them as the lugs often break off, tried a few brands and it seems to happen to them all. probably a case of the re-boxers buying from the same source.

Warm water will soften the plastic and make them more pliable and less brittle. Makes a lot of sense. Top Tip. Cheers.

Yes, "supposed to".

1/4 of a turn applied, still solid as a rock. Now I'm oft to find some suitable protection for the surrounding paintwork and use just a 'little bit' more force. Gently does it as they say.

I put masking tape round mine, in case of a slip, and eased them out with pliers making sure I didnt pull too hard as I was worried the jet would pull off the pipe. They were well mangled when I got them off. I replaced them with VW jets and they went on easily enough

More like an 1/8" of a turn and they are still a PITA to get out.
I used grollie grips to get mine out, the down side is that you have to bin them after.

I am looking at alternative replacements to get a better coverage.

I fitted a Smart sprayhead to one wiper arm as a test, they look good but the spray pattern is pants.
Bernd Jaeger sells a three nozzle one (49 yoyos a pair) which I suspect are modified Smart (mark I) items.

I read on the BY about Pug 307 "Fan Type" jets fitting as a replacement.

peugeot 307 fan jets fit. i put them on mine a while back didn`t save a part number though sorry.

You like the fanjet better then stock jet? My stock jets throw too much in one spot.

i'm interested in "better" washer jets but would the 307 ones make a good seal against the bodywork and clip in like the original ones?
