dead van ???
hi. guys sorry it is under chat but can anyone solve my problem, on an 89 westy td not been run since middle dec.tried to start it battery fully charged ignition lights on turn key nothing happens red light stay on but nothing from the starter, wiki says tap the starter motor also rock the van in gear.no luck any other suggestions before i call out the garage regards rick.

Can you hear the solenoid 'click' when you turn the key to the start position?

That's probably the problem then. Check the connection on the solenoid for dirt/corrosion - also the engine block earth strap. Do you possess a multimeter by any chance?
I'm no expert by the way, these are just things I've 'picked up' over the years...........

if you have any jump leads put one from the battery (-) to a clean spot on the engine and try,to see if it is the earth....just an idea

thanks guys. cleaned the battery /starter lead & solenoid lead , etc we have lift off..keep up the good advise. cheers rick.
