vw golf mk 4 engine in 81 bus??!!

Post by redmimosa »

Ok, so I have a dilemma, have a kickass 2.0 petrol 2001 golf that I can't sell for love nor money, also a 1981 T25 whose engine sounds sick. Is it possible to convert the golfs engine to fit the bus? what about the other parts? gearbox etc etc. Is it worth holding on to the golf for parts or flog her for next to nothing? Please help let me know if its practical/difficult/impossible or somewhere in between. Thanks!

Whats wrong with the Golf??? advertised it on here? ( in classifieds)

2001....... Mmmm.. nice idea, but the electronics will be a nightmare... ...

81 bus? water (D)? or Aircooled?........ air cooled means a load more work and hassle...

Its a lot of work and I would have thought a lot of money to "scrap" the golf to do that... going from air cooled to water is work and hassle, then trying to get the golf electronics to work will be another challenge... then there are a lot of other parts you need to fit the engine... how are the regs in Ireland for different engines too??? insurance??? (already costly I should imagine...)

Has the camper been far? if its been just started and run for 5 mins/very short journey's etc... then it prob need s a bloody good service and run out..... (like an hour)
