wiring my propex in without a thermostat?

Post by Chrissyt »

For now I want to wire my propex in without a thermostat, i.e just an on/off switch.

On my old x1 there are 3 wires , black orange and red. Can anyone tell me what the orange wire is? is it switched live ?

How do I wire the switch into these wires? do I join the orange and red together?

Also where is the best position for the fuse, before the switch?

The new Propex has a 5 core cable to the thermostat with:
Red & black - +ve / -ve
Orange - on
White - LED
Green - Vent.

So joining orange and red should do the trick.
Not sure what you mean by before the switch.
The main unit +ve feed should be fused.

Thanks bud, pardon my ignorance, where do I need to put the switch? In the positive feed? and place the fuse after the switch?

Or in line on the orange wire?

Fuse the +ve feed before it goes into the switch (which I presume will then feed the heater itself).

Mine's as simple a set up as you can get, 12v from lesuire battery, fuse as close to the battery as possible, then wire to thermostat Kev said about then to heater thats it! Not near the van to look at what colours i have connected but its basicly 12v in and then other wire to earth!
