servicing after standing

Post by wookey »

Hi all, just picked up a new t3. It has no service history so i assume it hasnt been done for a while.

Engine oil, gearbox oil, plugs filters leads etc, the common stuff ill do. Just wondering if there is any little gotchas, places to grease etc. this is my first 2l Aircooled.

Also, recommendations for oil. I've been using halfords highmilage stuff for yrs in other cars, is this ok or should i use magnitc etc?

Lastly, my gear selection has the optional roulette addon. 1st or 3rd are a gamble, from the wiki, looks like worn bushes are the problem, or a good start?

thanks

optional roulette addon
Full service I'd say plugs filters and oil. Generally quantum 15-40 is recommended for these engines. get it from VW or GSF. synthetic will likely be too thin for your engine and will find its way out past the seals when warm.
