My ns rear shock is knocking away at the bottom. Can you get new bushes or is it new shocks?

Nope checked the bolt and it is as tight as it gets. The play is within the bush it seems. I will need to take it off and take a closer look when I get a chance.

got some used standard shocks in stock here, but Baxter does longer adjustable rear shocks for syncro which might be a worthwhile upgrade, I'm just going to my lockup, give me a bell if you want a shock fetching out,

You dont wan to fit longer shocks to ure van Rob as the travel is already extended.You have standard 16 shocks on ure van but unfortunately vw dont stock them any more.They also only have 3 sets of fronts left.

Is the length of the 14" and 16" shocks different. I have found very little in the way of reasonably priced alternatives. If the old man emu ones work with the 16" then I might go with them.

They are externally the same, but the 16" was uprated to counter the effects of a heavier swing arm and wheel/tyre combo. The aftermarket ones are mostly uprated, so would be fine. The longer shocks allow the wheel to droop more, increasing the travel of the wheel. A new one is definately going to be better than a 17yr old original (you would hope) I guess it is very difficult to accurately asses how the different shocks actually perform.
There were some concerns over the old man emu shocks a while back, but go-westy, as enthusiastic as ever, say they are bomb proof.

There's the normal VW HD 14" shock as well as the 16" isn't there ? I managed to get two of those last year...

I think what Russel is saying is that the shocker pickups have been moved so you need a normal length shock (despite the lift)
