I think all vans have the fan sensor in the Rad, some have single speed fans and some have two speed fans, depending on year and engine.
The above may not apply if you have a engine conversion.

My fan only comes on if I'm stationary on a hot day, Very, very rarely.

On my bus the fan will come on when the needle is about two needles width past the flashing led, and then bring it back down to above the red dot.
Technically on carb engines first speed cuts in at between 93 and 98 degs, if you have a 2nd speed that starts at 99 to 105 deg C
On injection ones first speed at 89-94 degs, second 95-100.

When we were in Corsica the fan would cut in and out on the second gear passes about every minute. Never heard second speed though, if it works.
