white switch?

hello i have a t25 1985 autohomes . inside next to the propex heater control there is a white switch and when you press it an orange light under it comes on, what is it for?its not for the water pump and everything else works even if its on or not.just wondered if anyone had any ideas thanks

the two pin 12v socket next to it works if its switched on or not thanks hopefully someone can help

Looks like something a previous owner fitted rather than Autohomes. I've seen numerous Autohomes and not one of them had anything similar.

If everything works when it's switched off (water pump, lights, propex and 12v socket) there exists the possibility that it might be an independant feed to the 12v side of the fridge - which is not good as the fridge should only work while the engine is running. The only way to be sure is to trace it out.

Definately owner fittied in my opinion though......

Looks autohomes quality to me

As Bren says... Could be a switch to enable the fridge to be on when the engine is running. I've seen quite a few vans with switches for that - but they are normally up on the dash...

I had one of those switches in an Autohomes Camelot it was for the Water Pump

Yes, I've seen them on the dash before but Autohomes didn't fit a switch which is why I suspect this may be independant of the Autohomes wiring for running the fridge with the engine running. Possibly taken off the feed to the 'Zig' or via one of it's fuses.

The water pump works when it's switched off though. Did the switch you had look like that with the light below? It's just that I've seen loads of Autohomes and not seen one before - although I'll admit I've not seen a Camelot...................

gillinghamfishing, is it a momentary acting switch ie, you have to hold it down or it springs back to 'off' position? How do you operate your water pump at the moment? If, as Daisy has said it's for the water pump, a previous owner may have preferred to operate the pump differently and simply disconnected it and fitted an alternative.....

I googled 'Autohomes Camelot' and they appear to be mostly Fiat and Peugeot conversions.............probably why I ain't seen one....

Yep was a Fiat based camper Great conversion pretty good van really but without the Pannache of me T25 which is still an Autohomes Conversion.

Back to the Switch, Yes identical white switch but with a green light underneath (same size as that red one) the water pump could be turned on and left on the Zig Panel and left on and then using the white switch to operate the pump and when the pump was operarating the green light would illuminate.

The Camelot also had the same 12 volt socket in roughly the same postion in relation to the switch.
